Dedicated Local Team

Independent & Local

We make homes warmer, drier, and cheaper to run.

An independent, local specialist working directly with homeowners — no subcontractors, no call centres.

We assess, recommend and install as one team, fitting established products to manufacturer spec.

We look at the whole picture — heat loss, ventilation and damp — so the fix actually lasts.

How It Works

Three upgrades. One warmer home.

Insulate

SuperFOIL & Rockwool fitted to spec, cutting heat loss at the source.

Ventilate

PIV units keep fresh air moving, so damp and condensation don't build up.

Save

Less wasted heat means a warmer home and lower bills, month after month.

What We Install

Insulation & ventilation, done properly.

01

SuperFOIL Insulation

SuperFOIL is a multi-layer reflective insulation made from thin foil sheets wrapped around a wadding or bubble core. Rather than relying on thickness alone to trap heat like traditional insulation, it works by reflecting radiant heat back into the room — the same basic principle behind a foil survival blanket. It's fitted between and over roof rafters or loft joists.

Reflective multifoil insulation for lofts and roofs — thin, effective, and ideal for tighter spaces where full-depth insulation isn't practical. Multiple foil and wadding layers reflect radiant heat back into the home, and it's quick to fit without disturbing existing roof timbers.

  • Multi-layer foil and wadding construction reflects radiant heat
  • Ideal for lofts with limited depth or tight rafter spacing
  • Also acts as a vapour barrier, helping control condensation
  • Quick, clean installation with minimal disruption

Rockwool Insulation

Rockwool is a mineral wool insulation made from spun volcanic rock, formed into flexible slabs or rolls. It works in a similar way to traditional loft insulation — by trapping pockets of air within its fibrous structure, which slows the transfer of heat through your roof, walls or floors. Because it's made from stone, it's naturally non-combustible and doesn't sag or break down over time.

Non-combustible mineral wool slabs for loft, roof and wall applications, cut and fitted between joists or rafters to the manufacturer's recommended depth. As well as excellent thermal performance, Rockwool also helps reduce noise transfer between rooms and floors.

  • Non-combustible mineral wool — improves fire safety
  • Fitted to manufacturer-recommended depth for full performance
  • Reduces noise transfer between rooms, floors and party walls
  • Suitable for lofts, roofs, and stud or cavity wall applications

PIV Ventilation Units

A Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) unit is a small, quiet fan system usually installed in the loft. It draws in fresh air from outside, filters it, and gently pushes it down into the home through a central vent — creating a constant, low-level flow of fresh air that pushes out the old, stale, moisture-laden air as it goes.

Whole-house positive input ventilation, mounted in the loft and gently pushing filtered fresh air through the home. As homes become better insulated and more airtight, ventilation matters even more — a PIV unit keeps air moving and helps prevent the condensation and damp that can otherwise build up.

  • Filtered fresh air pushed gently through the home from the loft
  • Reduces condensation, mould risk and musty odours
  • Runs quietly and continuously in the background
  • Low running costs thanks to efficient, low-wattage operation

Timber Treatment

Roof timbers exposed to damp, condensation or wood-boring insects can weaken over time, putting the whole structure at risk. We treat rafters and joists with a protective preservative as part of a full loft upgrade, so the frame supporting your new insulation is sound, dry and built to last.

Full Property Painting

From tired render and peeling exterior brickwork to scuffed interior walls and ceilings, we cover full interior and exterior painting and decorating. A quality finish doesn't just refresh how your home looks — the right exterior paint also helps protect brickwork and render from weather damage and damp getting in.

Roof Replacement Estimates

Whether you need a full re-roof, a partial repair, or simply want an honest opinion on the condition of your roof, we'll carry out a proper survey and provide a clear, itemised quote covering tiles, felt, guttering and flashing — so you know exactly what's needed and what it costs before committing to anything.

Comprehensive Home Inspection

A full walk-through assessment of your property, checking existing insulation levels, ventilation, damp and condensation risk, and overall energy efficiency. You'll get an honest, jargon-free picture of where your home is losing heat and money, plus a prioritised list of recommendations — with zero obligation to book further work.

Spray Foam & Insulation Removal

Old or poorly-fitted spray foam can trap moisture against timber, cause rot, and even affect mortgage or insurance approval on a property. We carry out careful, thorough removal of problematic spray foam and old insulation, and can replace it with a modern, breathable alternative like SuperFOIL or Rockwool.

Loft Boarding

Raised loft boarding fitted above — not compressing — your existing insulation, so you get safe, usable storage space without losing any of the thermal performance you've paid for. A simple upgrade that makes your loft genuinely useful.

Solar Panel Installation

Solar panels convert daylight into electricity for your home, cutting how much you need to draw from the grid and lowering your day-to-day running costs. We survey your roof's orientation and shading, then design and fit a system sized to your household's actual usage.

Properla Roofing Membrane

A breathable, waterproof roofing membrane fitted beneath your tiles, treated with a self-cleaning nano-coating that helps rain and dirt bead off rather than soak in. It keeps wind-driven rain out while still letting trapped moisture vapour escape, protecting your roof timbers from the inside out.

Renotec Damp-Proof Render

A breathable renovation render system for walls affected by rising damp or salt-contaminated masonry. Unlike standard render, it allows trapped moisture and salts to migrate out through the render itself rather than sealing them in, helping to stabilise damp problems at the source rather than just covering them up.

Groundworks

Groundworks covering everything below and around the base of your property — drainage runs, footings, ground preparation and levelling — keeping water moving away from your foundations instead of sitting against them.

The Bigger Picture

Insulation isn't a luxury — it's the foundation of a healthier home.

Heat naturally escapes through poorly insulated roofs and walls, forcing your heating to work harder, driving up your bills, and leaving your home vulnerable to cold spots and damp. Proper insulation tackles the problem at its source — keeping the warmth you pay for exactly where it belongs.

But good insulation does far more than just keep your home warm. It plays a part in the health of the whole building — helping to control damp and mould, easing noise from outside, protecting the timber and fabric of your home from moisture damage, and lowering the amount of energy you use day to day. It's an investment that pays back in comfort, wellbeing and value, not just lower bills.

Cuts Heat Loss

Up to a quarter of a home's heat can escape through an uninsulated roof, and even more through poorly insulated walls. Insulation keeps that warmth inside.

Lowers Your Bills

Less heat lost means your heating doesn't have to work as hard to keep your home at a comfortable temperature, using less energy in the process.

Reduces Damp & Condensation

Cold surfaces are where condensation forms. A well-insulated, well-ventilated home stays drier, helping prevent mould long-term.

Better for the Environment

Using less energy to heat your home means a smaller carbon footprint — insulation is one of the simplest ways to make a home more sustainable.

Why ThermaX

Insulation that pays for itself — and a home that feels better too.

Lower, more predictable bills

Reducing heat loss through the loft means your heating works less to keep the house warm.

Less damp and condensation

PIV ventilation moves fresh, filtered air through the home to help prevent mould and stale air.

About Us

Local tradespeople, not a call centre.

ThermaX Home Health was founded by tradespeople from the North of England who were tired of seeing homeowners quoted through faceless national call centres. Every assessment, quote and install is carried out by our own directly-employed, fully insured team — the same people from first visit to finished job. What homeowners say

"Absolutely amazing service, everyone within the business was kind and considerate given my disability. The price was perfect and the guys who did the fitting did a spot on job. No complaints, highly recommend."

Janet Barker

"Amazing service, the free assessment wasn't pushy. There was no pressure but the price was more than reasonable for how much it has helped my house. The PIV has helped so much with the mould and condensation, I couldn't recommend them more."

Linda Sands

"A big thank you to Jack and Josh from Thermax. They were both friendly, professional and made the whole insulation process quick and easy for me. They explained everything clearly, worked efficiently and were a pleasure to have around. The new insulation has definitely helped lower my energy bills in a short period of time and they were honest and helpful throughout. I would highly recommend them and especially Jack and Josh for their excellent service."

John Goodman

"Overall I had a great experience with ThermaX Insulations, the 2 guys we had were great blokes and they did a great job and it didn't even cost as much as I thought it would. Would definitely recommend."
